One of the greatest benefits of rip sticking that I have experienced so far involve relationships and interactions with others that I might otherwise not have had.  I don’t mean skating together like the kids, who take turns jumping this and tricking that.  Instead I mean like the the opportunity to PLAY with my grandson or experience the KINDNESS of others, such as the owner of the SKATE Chalet in San Bruno, California. More about some of these experiences below.

I keep a board in my car, so when i visit my grandson we often spend a little time ride in the street in front of their house. This weekend he spent the weekend with us by himself for the first time, so I took him to the skate park in Pacifica, and he had a great time. Turns out our little coastal town has a really nice skate park. This was actually my fist time going to a skate park. Like baseball fields and basketball courts, skate parks too are a wonderful resource and alternative worth investing in for our youth.

Later that day, we went to the Pacifica pier so he could see the Pacific ocean. The next morning, Sunday, he and I went skating in Golden Gate park, he on his scooter and me on my ripstick. I video tapped him and he video tapped me a little. We were immersed in the park’s beauty, as we rode around. Having seen my blog site and my video on uTube, he was amazed and also wanted to be on UTube too. So here you go, bud. I really injoyed hanging out with you!
