Happy New Year 2014.

Unfortunately, I did not get to ride today, because my board (a Ripstik “G” Grind Caster Board) appears to be broken.  I was at the lake parking lot, getting ready to ride, when I noticed the problem.  As you can see in the pic below (bottom right to center of pic), the gasket appears to be coming out of the gadget that attaches the wheels to the under belly of the board (click on pic to enlarge).

I remember that the last time I rode, it suddenly became extremely difficult to keep momentum and roll.  So much so, that I stopped a couple of times to check my wheels and screws, to make sure nothing was lose or stuck.  Now I know what it was.

Normally, I might just purchase a new ripstick.  However, I have decided to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about ripsticks and investigate fixing this myself, and share the experience / adventure with you all.

So keep a lookout for future blog(s) on what this du hicki is and if it is replaceable, or if it in effect, totals the entire board and requires a new ripstick…

That said, if you happen to know anything about this part, please feel free to share via comments.
